Unveiling the Secrets of Osaka Castle's Rich Heritage

Opening Message: Hi folks! I hope you all are doing well and have been enjoying the blogs so far! This one is going to cover a specific part of my Japan trip, which was none other than Osaka Castle. It will cover what my thoughts are about it. Without further ado, I hope you like it!

Background: From Halloween to mid November 2023, I have been dying to go to Japan knowing full well it was going to be Tokyo and Osaka since this was my first solo trip. I will link the Japan trip article in the section below this one that says, “link”. I wanted to stay in a tourist area so I could practice my Japanese. I have gotten a lot of opportunities to speak and learn more Japanese throughout the trip since not everyone spoke English. Anyway, I was scouting the internet looking for things to do in Osaka. I stumbled across Osaka Castle. I have never been there before. I wanted to take the opportunity to go snap some photos. It did not disappoint at all. I hope this article inspires you to go as well one day!

Entrance to Osaka Castle: Credit Cards are also accepted to get into the entrance. At the time of my visit, it was 600 yen. Have the JR rail pass and you can cut through the line pretty easily, which is really good since there was a huge line, and I went during the off peak season.

The Exterior of Osaka Castle - My thoughts: The exterior of Osaka Castle was beautiful. I did not think I would be able to go in since I was running low on cash in order to enter. Just seeing the exterior was absolutely beautiful especially the gold accents, architecture, and design were nothing but beautiful and amazing in the artistry. I liked snapping photos of Osaka Castle with many plushies outside of the Castle. Someone took an interest in my photo shoots outside the castle and asked me if he could snap a photo of my plushies outside of Osaka Castle. I certainly had fun doing so. Everything was gorgeous.

The Interior of Osaka Castle - My thoughts: It was awesome to see the interior of it be remodeled as a museum. There were quite a few floors of the museum. There are some things that require you to have cash which are a couple of extras. I liked looking at the models inside. It was fun reading a few things. I also found some opportunities to snap photos inside since photography was allowed at the museum in most parts of the museum. I do wish, since I wrote this months later, that I was able to take notes on what I read about. It was likely situation is that it was about the castle's history. They had a nice souvenir shop which I got my friend a magnet for since she never been to Osaka before and I thought it would be great to make sure I try to respect Japanese culture with the gift giving parts of it.

The top of the Castle: The best view of all of Osaka City was being on top of the castle surrounded by a fence to prevent people from falling off the building and seeing a 360 degree view of Osaka city. This was just the perfect place for a photo shoot from capturing the outside and on top of the roof of Osaka Castle.

My favorite parts of Osaka Castle: My favorite site that I saw in Osaka hands down has to be Osaka Castle. As a photographer who does this as a hobby, there were so many opportunities to see a variety of sites to snap photos. From an art standpoint, I was most blown away by the exterior of the castle. Although, the best part when I was in/on top of the Castle, was the top floor because there were so many amazing views of Osaka. I have never seen such amazing views. The only time I got some cool but not as good of views was when I snapped photos with my brother at the Dotonbori district in Osaka on a Ferris wheel using my old camera in July 2019. Although, I think the views would be great during the daytime with the Ferris wheel, I do think the one at the Castle is significantly better.

Would I go again if I had the opportunity?: If someone asked me if I wanted to go to Osaka Castle again, I would absolutely take them up on it. I just liked everything about it. It was the best activity that I did in Osaka. I would happily go on the top floor to snap more photos. I would be thrilled to show off the Castle to anyone interested in Osaka's art and history. This is a really good place to see the artistry in the exterior.

Closing message: Have you ever gone to Osaka Castle before? If so, please tell me your thoughts on it. Do you share the same thoughts as I do? Would you return there if you could? What are your favorite parts of Osaka Castle? Anyway, I hope you enjoy this blog! Feel free and please leave a comment if you would want to go to Osaka Castle after hearing my thoughts on Osaka Castle, what your thoughts were on it if you did end up going, and/or that this article was irrelevant to you since you already had plans on going there during your adventures to Osaka. I look forward to all of you reading the next blog! Have a great day!
