Evaluating the Advantages and Disadvantages of Laptops and Tablets

Opening message: Hi Folks! I hope you all are doing well and are enjoying the blogs! This one talks about laptops vs tablets. It will cover the pros and cons of each as well as who is the target audience, and what I would recommend. Disclaimer: I am not an expert on technology and this is based on my experiences with both laptops and tablets. I owned a few of each and have some experience with both. However true tech gurus can tell you more. This is just my general take and of course there are exceptions to everything. Also, Wix took both of the photos that you see in this blog as well. With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy this blog and hope that you found my blog to be helpful.

Laptop: The laptop has its pros and cons. It will be listed in this section. I hope you find this to be very helpful. Pros: Everything is attached which is the screen and the keyboard and the ports that are necessary to plug in other devices. You do not need to buy anything else. Of course if you want to add storage and other accessories, then yes, you would have to pay money for that. For the ability to scroll and clicking purposes, having a mouse would be good. A mouse and a keyboard attached to the screen for a basic setup, you only have to buy a mouse. It has the perfect setup for high powered games. There are a lot of ports for you to connect other devices via cord such as mp3 players, cameras, phones, and so forth. They tend to have more storage than tablets in general and overall more power. It is also good for heavy duty projects such as editing movies/videos, and so forth. It can generally handle more power heavy applications. Laptop life tends to be longer than tablets. There is a camera for video chatting on most laptops. Cons: They are not as portable as tablets. They can be very heavy making it less enticing to carry around. Although that depends on the laptop itself, that is generally the case. It is becoming more outdated as more tablets start to have just as many abilities as a laptop. The speed tends to be better on other devices than a laptop.

Tablet: There are also a fair amount of pros and cons for the tablets as well. The tablet is in between a laptop and a phone in terms of what you can do with it. Pros: It has a lot of games and applications to choose from. It is very portable. They tend to be smaller than a laptop and a lot lighter. Although that depends on the tablet and laptop that you are comparing it to. It is also good for traveling and perfect for easy entertainment while on the go. You can easily access movies, books, videos, and so forth in comparison to a laptop. They also tend to be on the speedier side. There are some options for treating the tablet like a laptop such as Samsung Dex. There are two cameras on both sides of the tablet for video chats and photos. There is more versatility in terms of being able to have video calls, being able to show things as if it were on a laptop and projecting forward what you can see in front of you. Cons: In order to get that laptop experience without compromising on screen, you have to buy a keyboard or an optional keyboard case as well as a mouse. It generally doesn't have as much power as a laptop. Life span isn't as long as a laptop. It is limited in what it can do. There are no ports besides the charging port. A case is also a bit more important on a tablet than a laptop because it is usually more fragile than a laptop. It can't always keep up with the same heavy duty programs as a laptop can. It is in the process of having a desktop experience but it is not quite there yet. Storage is a bit more limited on a tablet than a laptop.

Why not 2 in 1 laptops?: I don't like two in one laptops because it is not as good in comparison to when they were dedicated to their respective task. I never liked the touch screen on a real laptop. Mine had a mind of its own and I had to get a new one without me giving any commands to it at all. It never really worked for me all that well. I would always get nervous that it would break since it doesn't have a wireless keyboard like tablets can and we are talking about an extra bulky tablet when used in tablet form.

Audience for laptop: These devices are perfect for people who want to be productive. I found that it is easier to associate work with laptops than tablets because of their high number of game apps that leave you distracted all of the time. They are perfect for people who want to be focused at the task at hand for sure. They are great for heavy duty program users for running programs especially high powered and/or complex. They are better for serious gamer. This is more for work professional settings overall in the office.

Audience for tablet: These devices are perfect for media consumption and artists who love to draw. This is more geared for children who are looking for entertaining ways to keep busy. This is true for teens and adults as well for the entertainment side. Travelers will take a liking to tablets because they are a lot more portable than laptops. When done right, they can handle some light productivity work. Although you have to look out for all of the distractions such as social media and game apps.

Recommendation: For serious work professionals looking for a device meant for productivity, I recommend a laptop. Although if you travel a lot with your device and do not need it for heavy duty work, a tablet will be the most recommendable device. If you are looking for fun games and media consumption, tablets are the way to go. Same with artists who like to draw. People who want to do power heavy work should go with a laptop. If you want to work on some writing on the go, a tablet will do just fine and so would a laptop. It really depends on what you are looking for. On the go travel is best suited for tablets due to its portability but the serious mode for productivity is best left to laptops.

Closing message: Laptops and tablets are great for different reasons despite them doing a lot of similar things. The purpose of having one differs based on what your purpose is for using the device. Ultimately, it is up to you. I hope you find this blog to be helpful and I hope you enjoy the blog! Looking forward to you all reading the next one! Have a great day!
