Cameras in Modern Life: A Study of Their Essential Role:

Opening message: Hi folks! I hope you are enjoying the blog posts so far! This one is about cameras. I am talking about cameras that are separate from your phone and not built in cameras such as phones and tablets. It will cover what it is and types, types of cameras I own, what I like about cameras, why they are dying, audience for cameras, and its relevance today. A disclaimer includes that I am not sponsored by any of the brands. It talks about my experience and observations about them. If, by the end of the blog you want to get one, that is super cool. If you choose not to, that is cool as well. I hope you enjoy it!

What is a camera?: A camera is a device that allows you to take photos and videos. The quality depends on the type of camera and usually the more you pay the better the camera is. There are quite a few cameras. There are some with detachable lenses, point and shoot cameras, video cameras which are the only cameras that doesn’t take photos, and so forth. Some popular brands are Nikon, Panasonic, Sony, Kodak, Canon, and so forth.

Wix took this photo.

Pros: Camera’s photo and video quality tend to be better than phone cameras, especially the advanced point and shoot cameras. They are relatively portable depending on the camera you get, especially point and shoot compact cameras. Those can fit in any pockets except for women's pants or shorts pockets. They are excellent for video recording. In many affiliate links for Youtubers, they often use physical cameras and not smartphone cameras for better quality sound and video recording. They do not take storage space from your phone.

Cons: Cameras are often found in all in one devices such as smartphones. It is just one more device to carry if you use a smartphone. Having a camera makes sense if you are using a flip phone but doesn’t make sense with smartphone cameras. For the everyday user a smartphone camera has enough bells and whistles to cover the everyday consumer who uses social media. It is just another device to charge. Some cameras with detachable lenses make the camera extra hard to carry around and require a lot of space just to take it to a variety of places.

Nikon Coolpix S6200: I got this cheap point and shoot camera when I was 15 years old in 2011 before I got a smart phone when I was 17 years old. It was a red and a very basic camera. The reviews were not anything special but it worked. I took this camera out to LA for a photo shoot when my brother first went to LA. I took several photos including the Hollywood sets, La Brea Tar Pits, and so forth. It worked for several years leading up to my first Japan trip in 2019. It was also the last time I used it because its battery melted and the camera no longer worked. It was a good camera and I am glad I bought it. Before I got my next camera, I really wanted a better quality camera because the image quality was not all that good compared to other cameras that are available.

Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS 100: I got this advanced point and shoot camera shortly after my digital photography class ended in July 2022. I waited until after my Florida-California trip in 2022. I was looking at reviews and found a similar camera but they did not have it in stores and I do not like risking my camera getting stolen because I would have to order it by Amazon. My mom and I went to a Best Buy in New Hampshire. I really loved shooting photos and it was a lot of fun and I really want to pursue it as a hobby. I wanted to get a good quality camera. This was the only camera that I was available and the ratings were also a lot better than the one I originally wanted. It was a bird in hand situation and on sale. I took the camera and took photos of flowers in the rain and they came out to be absolutely beautiful. I went to Japan, California, Florida, Washington DC, and so forth with the camera especially because there were beautiful cherry blossoms waiting in Washington DC. I took the camera on walks with my friends. I also took it during Christmas for family photos. I really wish I had this camera when I went traveling in July 2022 but I ended up getting the camera afterward. I wanted to take photos of the ocean, woods, and beaches. The sound quality is amazing too.

What do I like about cameras?: I like that dedicated cameras take a lot better quality photos and videos. Some of them are as good as being able to get quality photos of the moon. Mine is not quite that good, but it is still good. It can be portable and I find mine to be better than using my phone. The opportunity to adjust the photo settings are also quite important as well. Capturing photos with motion is a lot better with a regular camera than a phone one especially. It is super fun to pull off for sure. Capturing photos of rain drops are a lot better on a camera than it is on a phone camera especially when it is raining.

Why are cameras dying?: Cameras are not as popular as they used to be because the quality of a smart phone camera is more than adequate for everyday users who do not need all of the bells and whistles. It is a lot more convenient to just carry one device than having two separate devices. Most people do not need cameras that can capture higher quality photos such as the moon. All in one devices are way more popular.

Do cameras have a place today?/Audience for cameras: Absolutely. There are photographers who want to produce high quality images to sell for room decor. Lots of TV shows and Youtubers who want to edit high quality content use cameras that are not a part of the cell phone cameras as well. I see so many affiliate links for people who want to promote their camera in the descriptions below for Youtube channels. Cameras are great for children who do not own a phone or anyone with just a flip phone for sure. They are a fun little device to capture moments. Arguably, a phone camera is still a camera and is absolutely necessary to snap photos and record videos. I am mainly talking about separate cameras from phones though.

Closing message: I hope you enjoy this blog! Maybe this will help you understand the importance of cameras. Looking forward to having you all read the next blog! I hope you all have a wonderful day!
