My Personal Everyday Carry: A Practical Guide to Essentials:

Opening Message

Hi folks! I hope you're having a wonderful day! I appreciate you following along with my blogs, and I hope you’ve been enjoying them so far. This post is all about my everyday carry (EDC) camera case—a compact setup that fits neatly inside my sling (also known as a fanny pack). However, I’ll only be covering the items inside the camera case, excluding larger essentials like phones, wallets, and pocket notebooks.

Disclaimer: This list is based on what I already have at home and reflects my personal experiences. No one has to copy my setup, and I’m not sponsored by any brand. With that said, I hope you enjoy this blog!

Why Did I Create This Setup?

After watching countless EDC videos on YouTube, I was inspired to assemble my own using items I already owned rather than purchasing new ones. My goal was to keep it compact enough to fit inside my sling, which is my main everyday carry bag for essentials like my phone and wallet. While I do carry a mini pocket-size journal, it stays in my sling, not in the camera case. This blog will focus solely on what’s inside the camera case.

This is the vessel I used. I took the picture myself.

What is in it?: I have a carabiner, flash light, bottle opener, lanyard, house key, bandaids, alcohol pads, measuring tape, camera case  which is the main container, earbuds wired, hair elastics, rubber bands, nail clippers, micro cloth, and a handkerchief.

Why do I carry it?: I have these items in my camera case for a variety of reasons.

  • Carabiner: It is great to have the option to hook things up. I can add things like keys, lanyards, backpacks, etc.

  • Flashlight: It is a great idea to have another source of light aside from your phone just in case you are out of power or need to conserve your phone battery.

  • Bottle opener: Nothing stinks more than not being able to consume a drink because you need a bottle opener. It is small and portable and worth bringing with you.

  • Lanyard: It is great to have to hold your keys and ids like visitor passes, work ids, and so forth.

  • House key: It is good to have a house key so you can get into your house. Those tend to be fairly portable and important.

  • Bandaids and Alcohol pads: This is great to have for first aid in case someone gets a cut or anything along those lines and has a means to clean the wound as well.

  • Measuring Tape: This is great to have especially when trying to get furniture or any other equipment because certain things need to be a certain dimension in order to work in a space especially for houses, rooms, etc. Even tech must fit in its respective areas as well. Theme parks will be a great place to bring them especially if you have kids that have to be a certain height to ride certain attractions.

  • Earbuds wired: You never know when you want to consume media or music with someone or even your own device. Sometimes you need to take a phone call and it is good that not everyone has to hear what you are consuming and/or talking about.

  • Hair elastics: This is perfect for the workplaces and or any activities that require a person to pull their hair back from either an aesthetic standpoint and/or a necessity like a workplace.

  • Rubber bands/paper clips: This is great to be able to close containers such as food bags. I remember running some errands and buying food with a bag and never having a way to properly seal it. This led to issues such as having to eat all of it even when I no longer wanted it, throwing it out, and/or keeping it and getting my bag dirty since I had no way to seal the bag.

  • Nail clippers: This is more important for longer trips because this is good to prevent your nails from overgrowing overall.

  • Micro cloth: This is a great way to clean dirt from screens and your glasses.

  • Handkerchief: This is great to have especially when you want to conserve tissues. This is also good to use as a temporary way to clean up and/or cover wounds. I do not recommend it. It can also serve as a napkin as well. Keep in mind you will have to clean it after it is used. It is a good way to save money.
