Everyday Tech Edition 2026: Updated Version

Published: October 1, 2026

Dear Reader,

I hope you are doing well! I apologize for the long wait between blog posts. Things have been hectic, and I have had some important matters to take care of that could not be put off.

Today’s blog post is all about the technology I carry in my everyday life. There is one item on this list that comes with a few conditions, but it has earned its place. Of course, everyone’s everyday carry list will be different. I am sharing my personal choices, why I carry each device, and how I use them in my daily life.

None of these items are sponsored, so these are my own thoughts and experiences. I hope you enjoy reading about my everyday tech! There are many devices that can be useful to carry, but their importance depends on what you use every day or on a regular basis. With that in mind, let’s get started!

1. Smartphone

My first item is a smartphone. I am currently using the Samsung S26, which I rely on for several everyday tasks. Some of the features and apps I use most often include my digital wallet, calling, texting and messaging apps, social media, Google Suite, the camera, and banking apps.

I like having my smartphone with me because it keeps me connected, helps me manage different aspects of my life, and is portable enough to take almost anywhere. It is one of those devices that can serve many purposes without taking up much space.

2. Music Players

The second group of devices I carry consists of my music players. I use them to help me study Japanese, Spanish, and German, the three languages I am currently learning.

My music players give me access to YouTube, videos, Kindle books, Amazon, music, and other content. Having these devices allows me to enjoy entertainment while also making time for language learning. I like them because they are small, portable, and convenient to carry around. They also give me another way to access my favorite content throughout the day.

3. Sony Speaker

My third device is my Sony speaker. I use it to increase the volume of audio from my other devices, including my music players and smartphone. It is especially useful when I want to enjoy music at work. There is not much variety in the music played in my department at Macy’s, so having my own music and speaker combination can make a difference. The staff even missed having my music and speaker around! I enjoy this speaker because it offers good sound quality while remaining portable enough to bring with me.

4. Samsung Galaxy FE Buds

My fourth item is a useful one for listening to music, making calls, or watching videos without disturbing the people around me: my Samsung Galaxy FE Buds. To be clear, you do not necessarily need these particular earbuds. Many different options can serve the same purpose. I chose mine because they pair well with my Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ tablet.

I use them to listen to music and watch videos on either my music players or my smartphone. Their small size makes them easy to carry, and their Bluetooth capabilities allow me to connect them to compatible devices without dealing with wires.

For me, they are a convenient everyday accessory for enjoying audio on the go.

5. Translator Device

My fifth device is a translator. I find it useful when dealing with language barriers, especially at work. It can also support my language studies in Japanese, Spanish, and German. One of the reasons I like having a dedicated translator is that communication can become difficult when people do not share a common language. In certain situations, being able to communicate more clearly can make a big difference. My translator is small and portable, and I can wear it around my neck, so it is readily available when needed. I see it as a practical tool for situations where a language barrier could make communication difficult, particularly when there is an urgent need to understand one another.

6. Kindle Paperwhite

My sixth device is my Kindle Paperwhite, which I use to read books in English, Spanish, German, and Japanese. Its portability and glare-reducing screen make it convenient for reading in different environments. For example, I have used it at the beach when I simply wanted to relax with a good book. Another feature I appreciate is the opportunity to discover new books and access free or lower-cost digital reading options. Depending on the title and availability, ebooks can sometimes be less expensive than their physical counterparts.

I enjoy having a dedicated reading device because it gives me an easy way to bring books with me without carrying several physical copies. It is also useful for fitting reading into my day whenever I have some spare time.

7. Panasonic Lumix Camera

Finally, the last device on my list is my Panasonic Lumix camera. This one comes with a catch: I do not carry it everywhere or bring it along for every situation. My camera is not cheap, and it is not something I want to risk damaging or having to replace frequently. I generally bring it when I am attending an event where I plan to record videos or take photographs, or when I am participating in a scavenger hunt.

So, what makes it worth carrying? I enjoy using this camera because it is an advanced point-and-shoot model with impressive specifications. For the types of photos and videos I take, I appreciate the quality it can provide compared with my smartphone.

Another advantage is that using a separate camera can help save storage space on my phone and conserve its battery. My camera has its own battery, so I can use it for photography and video recording without relying entirely on my smartphone. Although it is not an everyday necessity for me, it is an important part of my everyday tech setup when I have a specific reason to bring it along.

What Do You Think?

Did you enjoy seeing the technology I carry with me? Are any of these devices already part of your everyday carry, or are there some you would consider adding to your own setup?

I hope you enjoyed this blog post! I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions for future topics. Please leave a comment if there is something you would like me to write about next. As a quick disclaimer, I cannot guarantee that I will use every suggestion, but I appreciate hearing your ideas! Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day. Stay safe, happy, and healthy!

Sincerely,

Lars Guo
