A Refreshing Summer Treat: Boba on Bowen's Review Unveiled

Opening Message: Hi Folks! I hope you are doing well! This blog is going to be a little bit different. I visited Newport Rhode Island. I came across a place called Boba on Bowen's that sells frozen boba tea. While I did not get a chance to try their boba tea, I did get to try their flavored ice. I did end up getting permission to interview the owner and ask her about her boba tea business. I am also throwing it out there that I was a visitor and I am not associated with her and/or her business. Their Instagram is @bobaonbowens. All opinions about the business and the product are my own. Of course, everyone’s experience is and/or might be different.


Background: This business began in June 2024. The busiest time for their business is the summer and that they are closed during the holidays. What makes their business unique is that they sell their boba tea as a frozen beverage. It will always come with a spoon and a straw for consumption. They also sell flavored ice as well. Unfortunately, when I went, they did not have any tapioca for me to try with their boba tea so I only got a chance to taste their flavored ice. When I first met the owner, I thought she was very friendly, personable, and professional. She was kind enough to let me try a couple of flavors for her flavorful ice. I also got a chance to ask her some questions about her business as well.


How did you get into the business?: I asked her about how she got into the business. She said that she “wanted to do something fun for families and vacation” and provide “an unique special experience”. That is a great reason to open up shop. The area she chose to open up her business is perfect because there are so many people and I have seen a line of people buying her product.


Favorite part: I also asked her about what her favorite part of the business was located. She told me that “Meeting new people and making people smile” were her two favorite parts of the business. Where she is located and the number of people she interacts with in the area, it is hard to not feel overjoyed that meeting people and making them happy. There were a lot of nice people that walked up to the stand to buy her product. I did end up observing it for myself. 


Favorite flavor: When talking about food, I cannot help but ask about the flavors that are her favorite. The owner noted that her mango flavor is her favorite because it is “Not too sweet and authentic mango flavor”. I know how it feels to taste a flavor that tastes exactly as described and I remember being blown away myself. This happened when I was in Japan having mango sorbet. It made me really be excited to try some of the product for myself.


Best seller: When talking about food or really in general, I could not help but ask about the best sellers. She said that her mango, blue Hawaiian, and strawberry flavors were her best sellers. This is something I got to try. I did get the opportunity to try her strawberry flavored ice. That made me excited as well since I really like strawberry flavored products myself.


My thoughts on the product: I had the opportunity to try the strawberry flavored ice and the lemon flavored ice. I can see why people like  the strawberry flavor a lot. It tasted like strawberry sorbet with some hint of pop rocks which I thought was great and it gave an interesting effect. The lemon is not a best seller, but I do like the lemon flavor a lot myself. I wholeheartedly agree that the lemon flavored ice had that true lemon flavor which was absolutely delicious. Definitely ask for the strawberry and the lemon to be scooped into the same bowl makes for a great combination of sweet and sour. Neither of the flavors are overpowering and everything is done just right. 


Would I recommend it?: I would absolutely recommend going there. I thought the customer service was fantastic. Like I said, I was very happy with my experience there. I really enjoyed the product as well. I thought the products were very true to the flavor as well.
