A Personal Perspective on Using Slings and Fanny Packs

Opening Message

Hi folks! I hope you’re all doing well. This blog is about my thoughts on slings/fanny packs. Personally, I just call them slings since I never wear mine on my waist. These are simply my opinions, and what works for me may not work for you. Please be respectful of that and enjoy!

Audience

Anyone who needs a small bag to hold a few essential items and is old enough to carry one responsibly can benefit from a sling. This includes kids, teens, and adults of all genders and identities. Thankfully, with slings/fanny packs, it doesn’t matter who you are—anyone can use them and enjoy them without being judged. I’ve seen all kinds of people wearing them, and I love that they’re becoming more normalized and accepted.

How Is It Different From a Purse?

Slings are different from purses because they sit closer to your chest, which makes them feel more secure. They’re also more convenient when you need to quickly grab small items. Purses are often associated only with women, which shouldn’t be the case—but slings feel more neutral and widely accepted by everyone.

Pros

  • A small, portable bag that stays close to your body

  • Can be worn cross body (front or back) or around the waist

  • Anyone can wear it without judgment

  • Great for places that don’t allow large bags

  • Super convenient for airports when you need quick access to your boarding pass or ID

  • Easy to pack inside a backpack when not in use

  • Available in many sizes to fit different needs

Cons

  • Doesn’t hold much if you need to carry a lot of items

  • Not all slings are created equal because some are better designed than others

  • Not ideal for fancy occasions

  • Best suited for casual, everyday use

Should You Have One?

I’d definitely recommend having one, especially if you travel. In my opinion, there are way more pros than cons. I honestly didn’t think I would care much about slings at first, but after using one even once, I couldn’t go back to using my purses the same way.

Closing Message

Would you want to buy one? Do you agree with my points? I hope you enjoyed this blog about slings. I look forward to you reading the next one! Have a wonderful day, and stay safe, happy, and healthy.
